  1. Alfonso Cuarón worked his way up in the film industry right from the bottom, starting as a runner, he gradually progressed to boom man then editor and then TV director.

  2. He made his feature film directorial debut in 1991 with Sólo Con Tu Pareja (Love in the Time of Hysteria), a dark comedy starring Daniel Giménez Cacho and Claudia Ramírez, which was the biggest box office hit in Mexico at that time.

  3. Alfonso Cuarón co-wrote the sci-fi blockbuster Gravity with his son, Jonas.

  4. When he's not busy moviemaking, Cuarón's favorite place to visit is the Mexican Pacific.

  5. His movies have received widespread acclaim for their technical achievements, but Cuarón doesn't like using computers.

  6. Cuarón's guilty film pleasure is the made-for-telly disaster B movie, Sharknado.
