What's your name and your job?
I'm Jamie Cashmore I'm a clinical team mentor for West Midlands Ambulance Service.
What's a typical work shift like?
A typical shift, 12 hours and it can vary between four to eight jobs in twelve hours.
What's the best thing about your job?
Best thing about my job is the variety - no two days are ever the same.
What are the biggest challenges of your job?
Biggest challenge in the job is probably uncooperative patients - whether that be through mental illness or whether it be through something else - because it just makes your job ten times harder to actually get them to the treatment they need.
How does your job affect you?
The job affects me I think probably when I'm four shifts at work, sleep patterns all over the place and my body doesn't know when to eat.
What have you learnt about the Great British public through your job?
What I want people to learn from this? We're all human beings and just because we where a uniform doesn't mean we don't have a laugh and we're not absolutely insane!
What did you do before you worked for WMAS?
I was a university student fro two years doing paramedic science, so I went straight from sixth form to university and paramedic at 20.
